Gin Rummy! App Reviews

Ive downloaded and played just about every gin rummy game available from the App Store and this one is the best. Yes, the opponents are fairly easy to score off of to get the bronze trophies but the silver and gold are more challenging with the tougher opponents. This games really shines in the actual game play. Cards are easy to look at and you can easily rearrange your hand/melds (something most of the other games wont allow you to do). The game interface is the best I have used among gin rummy games. The AI isnt the best in the world but it is adequate for beginner to intermediate players. Playing this game is helping me to sharpen my skills for the times when I play human opponents. Ongoing game play is excellent even after you have gotten all of the gold trophies. People who rated this game low clearly havent tried many of the alternatives out there or they would have been more forgiving of some very minor quibbles in what is otherwise an excellent gin rummy implementation. Id love to see more card games from this developer. They clearly understand good game play. Highly recommended!

Having tried SEVERAL Gin Rummy applications thus far, this one stands out for clean graphics and presentation, solid gameplay and easy controls. While Id not rate it as the strongest opponent, its more than good for a quick game or two to pass the time.

Grandma gin is rigged ive played her about 100 times and i never beat her. RIGGED!!!!

Good game with potential to be a great game. AI needs more realistic work. Seems like grandma gets too many 2 and 3 play knocks. Need more randomness in cards. Seems too many times like AI opponent on upper levels knows what you have.

Like others have mentioned - it has some potential... Grandma Gin is a bit frustrating to play though - she is able to knock extremely and unrealistically early. It took me about 4 times before I actually beat her. Your best bet at beating her is to somehow undercut her. Really wish it had a 2 player wifi mode!

Like other reviewers, I wonder if Granny is receiving random hands. I suspect that Granny needed some help to challenge an expert player, and rather than improving the AI it was easier to juice her hands. Her play is quite predictable, and she makes late knocks that an expert player would never try. I also observed a couple of annoying bugs. Occasionally the program does not allow you to knock even though your count is under ten. Also, it does always not meld your hand in the most advantageous way.

This game is a joke. Tiers 1-4 are fairly simple. The final tier (granny) is fixed. Its like she can see your hand. Strategy is out the window. Ive beat her about 3-4 times but the only way to do it is to cut her and that means dumping possible runs etc. Plus it is amazing how many times she discards a card you needed immediately after a discard (after u broke a run, etc.). Dont buy this game.

First, Fifth level is rigged, as others have noted. Second, the game only goes to 100 with no option for longer games. Third, occasionally (randomly) I wont be able to knock even though I have less than 10 points in my hand. And fourth, often when I move a card in my hand other cards get reshuffled as well. I think Ill try a different gin rummy game.

Ok other than cheating granny. As soon as you discard something you were saving to build a run, she discards whatever you were waiting for. Also, if you accidentally move your card too far to the left, the app closes and you lose your progress.

Opponents are either maddeningly easy or maddeningly impossible. Nothing random at all about this game. Vaguely amusing to pass the time, but knowing it is all rigged takes the fun out of it. Cute graphics and aesthetically pleasing game, but not recommended to serious gin rummy fans.

I just received the final trophy for shutting out Granny, it took about a hundred games some strategy and a lot of luck! Still, great game and worth the two bucks. If they could add additional options trophies or players I would be even more pleased.

I slaughtered this game. Yes Granny can be tough...but beatable. However, the game does CHEAT. It will throw cards depending on what you are holding sometimes. On a couple of occassions when the game has knocked and I had deadwood that would play on the games knocked sets and therefore undercut the game it did not allow this to happen. It needs more opponents and maybe a second live player option. AND GET RID OF THE CHEATS..."BUGS"!!!

This games cheats so much---- not worth your money. Doesnt deserve a star.

The app is not fair: players know your cards and dont discard correctly.

Yea I bought this silly game the granny cheats and they advance the game where you dont have a chance to win, but whats really funny is this my second review I wrote and they deleted the first one wow! Dont waste your $

It gets the count wrong. Computer had 3 threes. I had a three and it counted it as deadwood. Junk!

I like this game, and I play it quite a bit but honestly its a piece of crap! The game constantly cheats, but I play it sort of as a joke trying to beat the cheating players. Everything the other reviews say are true... The developer of this app needs to get their act together cuz they are douche bags

Its impossible to complete the game cox the game cheats. Could be a great game but it cheats !

TRUST THESE REVIEWS!!! MOVE ON AND DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS APP!! Ive played a ton of computer card games and sometimes you might think...hmmm... Is the computer seeing my cards or "fixing the deck". Well this one does. How many games can a computer actually make a one card draw and win OVER AND OVER again when your hand cannot even match 2 cards. What a WASTE IF MONEY. I WILL NOT BUY FROM THIS APP BRAND AGAIN!!!! Trust these reviews and move on!!

this game was fun, however I beat the whole game in about an hour (thanks to the doctor who made me wait for an hour and a half in the waiting room). I wish it had more levels to it.
